Assistant Pastry Chef - City Club
Overview
Capital City Club Culinary Department is looking to hire an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and team-focused individual for a Full-time Assistant Pastry Chef. The position includes full-time hours, health vision, life, dental insurance, and 401(k) with a company match.
The ideal individual is creative, career-oriented, well organized, works with cleanliness and sanitation procedures, and excels in a team environment. The operation is considered high volume/fine dining with different styles of culinary operations available for development.
Job Summary
Assist the Executive Pastry Chef and/or Executive Chef to consistently maintain quality output from the pastry department. Our Pastry Kitchen is a great environment for creative freedom and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists in the development of the pastry menu
- Maintain excellent knowledge of the pastry menu and attention to detail with plate presentation
- Assist the Executive Pastry Chef in maintaining and updating recipe book(s), and determining parts needed for the week
- Proper execution of recipes and understanding of culinary techniques
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage stress
- Food handling and safety knowledge
- Knife and measuring skills; manual dexterity and speed
- Ability to prepare and follow recipes
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Reliable transportation
- Successful candidates should have the drive to learn, challenge themselves, and be passionate about helping others achieve the same
- Ability to work well with others and be productive while working by yourself.
Preferred Qualifications
- You must possess pride in quality craftsmanship, precise work, a fast pace, and an appreciation for a professional work environment
- At least 2 years experience in a professional kitchen, bakery, or hotel (high volume preferred)
- Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of pastry fundamentals
